The Lamplighter is one of the staples of Gastown nightlife. I’ve had many great nights at the Lamp, with a great mix of people the bar seems to attract, some nice 90s throwbacks on the dance floor and a great option to catch some PPV Canucks or UFC.
“Lamplighter is pretty unpretentious by Vancouver standards. Another endeavour of the Donnelley Group, this bar is always a great weekend destination. The line tends to move quickly and the cover isn’t big. The inside is spacious and large. Perhaps a shrink is in order, because this place seems to have an identity crisis. Torn between being a club or a pub. Pool tables on one side face the make shift dance floor pumping with electro beats. It’s a strange occurrence befitting a strange place. The dichotomy draws a unique crowd. Pub goers who still want to dance to house on a Friday night. By most regards, my kind of people.”
