As far as sports bars go, Cinema Public House plays it all. Right in the downtown core on Granville Street, Cinema is an easy pick for catching any sports including NHL Canuck games, pay-per-view events, UFC, World cup soccer, etc.

Cinema holds the progressive, chic and modern style of Donnelly Pubs with high-ceilings, black stained and brushed granite oak walls, ‘Octopus’ chandeliers by De La Espada and herringbone pattern tile on the floor. Cinema also adds subtle hints of old theatre nostalgia to the room and re-purposed desk lamps to achieve the cool, low-light atmosphere that Donnelly Pubs are known for.

While quaint at 148 seats, Cinema Public House also has quite a unique layout with different nooks and crannies to explore. On Fridays and Saturdays, DJs play indie dance tunes, electro and classics past and resent where a dance floor is made by moving tables in the back room with it’s own bar.

Cinema opens daily at 11am serving up innovative pub food. Featuring caprese salad with fresh bocconcini, braised short rib poutine, slow roasted Alberta beef sandwich and an organic BC spring salmon burger. They also host a weekend brunch with buttermilk pancakes and classic eggs benedict.

The Speakeasy is a come as you are type of place where you can feel comfortable in a t-shirt and jeans as top 40 blasts in the background. On weekends, you’ll also find a mix of club goers grabbing a bite to eat earlier or late in the night.

Junction Public House first opened as Pulse nightclub in 2008 managed by the Donnelly Group but has since switched hands to the owners of Davie’s popular Pumpjack Pub and has gone through extensive renovations to transform the club into a casual sports bar.

You can watch all your sports at Junction Public house on 7 flat screens and 2 projection screens. Junction also has pool tables and brings some old school fun back into the pub with a pinball machine and arcade games.

Forum Sports Bar offers a full kitchen, open for lunch daily and brunch on weekends. Forum will be showing all sports and pay-per-view games (including all UFC fights and Canucks games) on four 120 inch projector screens and fifteen 58 inch high def flat screen tvs throughout the bar.

Forum Sports Bar will be the Granville strip’s hot spot where pro athletes in town will be making appearances.

After the games are done, Forum will offer night club entertainment with a dance floor and resident DJ Storm.

On Fridays and Saturdays The Sunset Grill is open to 2am providing a nice place to stay out late in Kitsilano neighbourhood which typically tends to shut down early.

On weekends, The Sunset Grill is great for brunch where there’s usually no wait and the staff are always friendly!

Walkers, cyclists and rollerbladers pass by the bar with floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the outside view. On a summer day, the Pirate Pub patio can’t be beat!

In winter, the Pirate Pub quiets down without all the tourists and summer traffic but you can head down to the pub for a chill place to watch the canucks with drink specials most nights of the week. At night, it still has it’s charm with the view of Granville Island and lights from the moored boats beside.

On weekends, you can stroll down to the Pirate Pub for a brunch.

Red Card Sports Bar is one of the newest bars added to the Yaletown neighbourhood with it’s doors opening in early December 2009. Red Card Sports is definitely a welcome addition to Yaletown where it’s hard to accommodate big sports nights.

Red Card Sports has a definite sophistication with low lighting and modern furnishing. Here, you can easily impress a date and keep an eye on the game ;)

On the weekends, Malone’s has live music Fridays and Saturdays.

Inside there are several large tables that accommodate large groups and, unlike most bars in Vancouver, St. Augustine’s lets you reserve a table to secure seats for busy sport nights (including UFC nights)!

The menu at St. Augustine’s has all the favourites – including burgers, pizzas, sandwiches and nachos. Open during the day, you can easily pop in for a quick bite to eat and on weekends, they provide lunch.

Two things that I find most enticing about St. Augustine’s is the beer – they have TWENTY beers on tap!

I should also mention St. Augustine’s has parking on the ROOF! This means you don’t have to worry about nabbing a spot on Commercial drive.
