Cinema Public House is a casual Sports Bar on one of the busiest corners of the Granville entertainment district close to theatres and other bars and pubs.

Cinema Public House is a casual Sports Bar on one of the busiest corners of the Granville entertainment district close to theatres and other bars and pubs. Cinema Public House is the newest addition to the Donnelly Pub Group. This will be the third Donnelly venue on the 900 block of Granville street (along with the Granville Room and Republic nightclub).

As far as sports bars go, Cinema Public House plays it all. Right in the downtown core on Granville Street, Cinema is an easy pick for catching any sports including NHL Canuck games, pay-per-view events, UFC, World cup soccer, etc.

Cinema holds the progressive, chic and modern style of Donnelly Pubs with high-ceilings, black stained and brushed granite oak walls, ‘Octopus’ chandeliers by De La Espada and herringbone pattern tile on the floor. Cinema also adds subtle hints of old theatre nostalgia to the room and re-purposed desk lamps to achieve the cool, low-light atmosphere that Donnelly Pubs are known for.

While quaint at 148 seats, Cinema Public House also has quite a unique layout with different nooks and crannies to explore. On Fridays and Saturdays, DJs play indie dance tunes, electro and classics past and resent where a dance floor is made by moving tables in the back room with it’s own bar.

Cinema opens daily at 11am serving up innovative pub food. Featuring caprese salad with fresh bocconcini, braised short rib poutine, slow roasted Alberta beef sandwich and an organic BC spring salmon burger. They also host a weekend brunch with buttermilk pancakes and classic eggs benedict.

Cafe Barney is a popular brunch spot and Main Street bar. At the Corner of Broadway and Main, Cafe Barney is also convenient for those traveling on the b-line bus. The interior is mix of bold, gritty and warm with eye catching art, industrial walls and dark furnishings. On weekends, Cafe Barney is a popular pick for Main Street locals who seek scramblers, bennys or omelet. Often there is a bit of a wait to get in. In the evenings, Cafe Barney acts more of chill lounge for small groups to grab a drink.

Subeez is a funky restaurant and bar in Yaletown. Unlike the upscale and fancy pants clubs and lounges in Yaletown, Subeez sets itself apart from the rest by showcasing intriguing local art and eclectic decor. It attracts the film industry folks, web personalities and other arty and creative types. On weekends, Subeez has djs spinning at night for a lounge setting.

Subeez has a full service kitchen offering a tasty breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. You can come with a group of friends, grab a booth and enjoy a casual and non-pretentious atmosphere. If you’re not up for food, Subeez also has more of a lounge area in one corner, right beside the entrance, with high tables and bar stools. In the summer, you can enjoy food outside at one of their pick nick tables on the sidewalk.

The Pirate Pub is a great little bar located right on the seawalll under the Burrard bridge. Formerly Fiddlehead Joe’s, the Pirate Pub is one of the only places in all of Vancouver where you can have a drink on the waterfront, sitting on False Creek. The aqua-bus is steps away for a 5 minute hop over to Granville Island. From the Pirate Pub, you can follow the seawall to Stanley Park in one direction or Yaletown, the Olympic Village, Granville Island and Kits in the other.

Walkers, cyclists and rollerbladers pass by the bar with floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the outside view. On a summer day, the Pirate Pub patio can’t be beat!

In winter, the Pirate Pub quiets down without all the tourists and summer traffic but you can head down to the pub for a chill place to watch the canucks with drink specials most nights of the week. At night, it still has it’s charm with the view of Granville Island and lights from the moored boats beside.

On weekends, you can stroll down to the Pirate Pub for a brunch.
