Me and Julio is a modern Mexican kitchen and cantina located on Commercial Drive. Inside Me and Julio you’ll find a fun a playful room with a bamboo roofed cantina bar off to the side and star shaped lights twinkling all around the room.

Me and Julio serves up a “siesta” and dinner daily with tasty Mexican food and fun cocktails (starting at 3pm). On weekends, it does a full breakfast, lunch and dinner. It always gives me the feeling of being on vacation whenever I go =)

Then, outside, Me and Julio has a small patio if you want to enjoy a warm summer day with a fruity umbrella drink!

Commercial Drive Legion

The Legion on Commercial drive has a mix of events happening throughout the week for both young and old. As you would expect, this legion is well equipped with beer, darts, shuffle board and snooker tables. Every night is something different – from Bingo to Salsa to Swing dancing.

Cafe Deux Soleils

Cafe Deux Soleils on Commercial Drive is a mix of coffee shop, vegetarian cafe and bar. You can’t miss Cafe Deux Soleil from the street with a bright floral mural covering the front. Inside, is one open room with brightly painted walls with baked goods and coffee served in the corner.

At night, Cafe Deux Soleil features a live “something” starting at 9pm (poetry, open mic, etc). A few regular nights run during the week and other times, it’s a special act coming through (check the website). They are open til midnight so come early for the show!

Falconetti’s East Side Grill

Falconetti’s is small and friendly neighborhood bar on Commercial drive. The bar opens to a narrow corridor with sets of tall 2-person tables on one side and bar on the other side. Follow to the back and you’ll find a room for bigger groups to enjoy food and live music showcased on a small stage. On canuck nights, Falconetti’s lowers a big screen for everyone to catch the action.

Always exciting news for Vancouverites: Falconetti’s will open a patio in late 2009!

Havana

Havana breathes Commercial Drive. A chill cuban restaurant, art gallery and theater couldn’t be more in tune with the atmosphere, vibe and attitude that is Commercial Drive. For this, it’s no surprise that Havana is packed most nights of the week. Either local residents, Latin visitors or hungry brunch seekers fill the small one room restaurant. In summer, the Havana patio is, hands down, the best for people watching.

Timbre

Timbre on Commercial Drive is a bright one room restaurant and bar with live bluegrass and jazz music playing at different times during the week. Weekly, Timbre hosts a blues and bluegrass brunch on Sundays at 11am. On Saturdays, Timbre starts it’s live blues music at 3pm.

Stella’s Tap and Tapas Bar

Stella’s Tap and Tapas Bar on Commercial Drive is a warm and cozy pub located at the corner of William and Commercial Drive at the edge of Grandview Park. Featuring a wide selection of Beligium beer on tap and a full tapas menu, Stella’s is a popular neighbourhood pub.

Inside, a sunken dining room with cobbled stone brick walls and oil paintings give it an old tavern feel where Commercial Drive residents come with friends to share plates. On the other side, you’re welcome to sit at a long bar and sip on a pint. Note beer specials on Canuck game nights!

St Augustine’s

St. Augustine’s on Commercial Drive is a friendly neighbourhood sports bar operated by three home grown owners who grew up around the Commerical Drive area. Inside, St. Augustine’s provides a leisurely place to grab a bite to eat and watch the canucks games, ufc or other popular sporting events.

Inside there are several large tables that accommodate large groups and, unlike most bars in Vancouver, St. Augustine’s lets you reserve a table to secure seats for busy sport nights (including UFC nights)!

The menu at St. Augustine’s has all the favourites – including burgers, pizzas, sandwiches and nachos. Open during the day, you can easily pop in for a quick bite to eat and on weekends, they provide lunch.

Two things that I find most enticing about St. Augustine’s is the beer – they have TWENTY beers on tap!

I should also mention St. Augustine’s has parking on the ROOF! This means you don’t have to worry about nabbing a spot on Commercial drive.

The Libra Room

The Libra Room on Commercial Drive is a funky and eclectic restaurant that features live music every night. If you need a jazz fix, then the Libra Room will surely solve that problem showcasing TWO jazz bands nightly. Food is served late until 12:30pm for last order and last call is at 1:00am.
